Mission and Vision


Through our work and our model, we want to contribute to a world in which there may be a creative tension between the universal and the unique, in which the individual can achieve optimal realization, can learn to deploy this singularity to serve the bigger whole.

We believe that there is an endless amount of wealth in stories and that every life is a unique story that is unrolling itself in recognizable patterns. Through our work and through our model, we also want to contribute to a situation in which these stories can thrive by means of the structured provisions of examples and possibilities for development. This way, we pursue a society in which inner development, provision of meaning and contributing to the bigger whole, are parts of the highest possible values.



With our organization, we want to contribute to what we call an ecology of meaning. This is a society in which we satisfy our needs in such a way, that it doesn’t compromise the basic needs of others and future life forms.

An important factor in this is the possibility to perceive satisfaction and joy in the things that are available and are of service to the bigger whole. This means that we learn to better enjoy the things we have without burdening future generations. That we learn to enjoy our daily activities more, that we bring back craftsmanship in education, healthcare, agriculture and construction.

Our model, and the approach we have chosen, is perfect for supporting the transition to an ecology of meaning for several reasons:

1. Universal: Since we draw from the common line of stories throughout time and cultures, we are able to provide a cohesive, recognizable and comforting narrative. It means that our model is more than a theoretical scheme. It is an easily recognizable story in itself.

2. Visual: since – in addition to theory, self reflection and exercises – we also use powerful and clearly structured archetypes, we create a deep and multifaceted learning process.

3. Positive: since we focus on a majority of positive examples from movies and documentaries, we also help spark sufficient development. Participants in our trainings, indicate that, in crucial situations, they often remember a specific movie scene, on which they then base their behaviour.

4. Cyclic: since we use cyclic thinking, we generate awareness of the things that force themselves upon us as lessons. Working with cyclic thinking is in line with acting in the interest of the bigger whole.

5. Levels: the model provides a vast overview of opportunities for development. Since the cycle is, in fact, always the same, users can learn connections between the levels they know and the levels they still can gain access to. This perspective makes the pursuit of inner development feasible and appealing. This combination of cyclicality and levels of development is in line with the upcycling mindset: not just recycling goods, but raising them to a higher level in the recycling process.

6. Scalability: the cycle that keeps coming back at higher levels, makes the model easily applicable in larger contexts. Studies for various levels of management, teams and leaders can receive customized education, while using a common idiom. If the pedagogical models are good, the educational system can also benefit greatly from upscaling to the concepts that teachers, professors and the management use.

7. Synchronous: since we place the phases of development in a circle, there automatically is awareness for the opposing phases. Summer as opposed to winter, spring as opposed to fall. Time is given a spatial design. This synchronous aspect is discussed in the model through the concept ‘Mutual Arising Principle’ or ‘Creative Tension Field’. This helps us emphasize the importance of reconciling contradictions and the creative use of areas of stress from a powerful binding centre.

8. Sequential: the step by step nature of the narrative, helps leaders use the bigger picture to know what they can expect, so they can prepare their inner selves for it. This means that the model can be used not just as a checklist, but as a predictor as well.

9. Complexitity: the Double Healix model distinguishes many phases and levels. It integrates a large number of old and new theories. It has lines, circles, crosses and triangles and becomes richer and richer as we explore it further.

10. Simplexitity: the comforting paradox is that both people who are very advanced and novices can always fall back on the basic metaphors that form the foundation of the model: the seasons, the human body, the simple dimensions of vertical and horizontal.
