Manfred van Doorn

Manfred van Doorn is a keynote speaker and pioneer in the use of visual lectures on topics such as societal development, leadership, and the importance of adopting a Bitcoin mindset. He lives by the paradox of “informed optimism”: he is attuned to profound underlying developments, capable of sharp analysis, and skilled at translating insights into an integrative vision, enriched with humour and compassionate encouragement.

Manfred worked for twenty years as a psychologist and psychotherapist. He then transitioned to an international career as a leadership trainer, using his expertise, deep understanding of human behaviour, and humour to help leaders harness their strengths and talents. He has been involved in major management development (MD) programs for multinationals such as Pon, SHV, Transavia, Redevco, Rabobank, IBM, Deloitte, and Triodos. He also provided training to NGOs and foundations like Greenpeace, Stichting Grondbeheer, Demeter, the Moroccan Dutch Leadership Institute, and youth care organisations such as Alliade, Vita, and Levvel.
At the Institute for Management Studies (IMS), Manfred trained leaders of Fortune 500 companies, with his training for IMS-London achieving the highest-ever evaluation score. In the Netherlands, he was the lead trainer for twelve years in the prestigious Candidate Program of the Algemene Bestuursdienst (General Administrative Service) under the Ministry of the Interior, a program that gained international recognition. His Double Healix model for human development was central to this program. Additionally, he frequently taught leaders from other ministries and public institutions. Through the European Institute for Public Administration, he was invited by the Chinese government to teach leadership at the National Academy in Qingdao.

Manfred is renowned for his passion for and expertise in film, which he extensively uses to support leadership development and societal improvement. His Double Healix model is frequently employed in the design of MD programs due to its comprehensive nature, particularly its narrative structure and focus on paradoxes and multifaceted leadership.

In collaboration with Isodoor Jonker and an international team, Manfred developed the platform MovieLearning. This large-scale, community-based online learning environment uses film clips and stories aligned with the Double Healix model. The platform offers a wide range of Dutch and English courses on organisational and leadership development, psychology, coaching, education, pedagogy, and the transition to new societal structures.

Manfred’s mission includes elaborating on the concept of the “reversal of the earning model.” This vision imagines a society operating with Bitcoin as a deflationary currency that gains rather than loses value. Such a system would encourage less impulsive spending, while governments would need to operate within realistic limits. Health would become a higher priority, with greater emphasis on nutrition, education, and healthcare. Products and services would become more durable, and buildings would once again be designed with beauty in mind. Within this circular economy, there would be increased appreciation for meaning, sovereignty, and integrative capabilities. Through Double Healix, Manfred aims to contribute concretely to this vision by providing international, online education across various levels of complexity.

Manfred is the author of many Dutch books and online MovieLearning courses about narrative psychology, leadership, education, and sustainability. Several courses have been translated in English, for instance:
* Personal Leadership;
* Storytelling – Step by Step;
* The Power Cross: basics of influence, power and leadership (feb 2025);
* How to Build a High Impact Team: The Double Healix Triple-T approach;
* Ladies in the Lead: Learning from female leaders;
* Coaching in 12 Steps: the narrative approach;
* The Parenting Balances: An integrative approach to children’s opposing needs.
